After graduating from high school and travelling around the world for five years Thompson relocated into New York to pursue a career in modeling. After completing her acting studies in Strasberg Studio and Herbert Berghof Studios she embarked on her first professional career in acting. Her path has been a remarkable one. Andrea Thompson had her breakthrough acting role in the film drama Wall Street, released in 1987. In the following year, she was an appearance in the Monsters episode.
